Taksu will look to continue his stellar form when lining up in Saturday’s Listed Winter Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.

No stranger to a wet surface, the Joseph Pride-trained six-year-old will once again be suited by the anticipated conditions as the already Heavy 10 surface prepares for another week of downpour.

Filling the top two placings in 5/6 runs this campaign – including three wins, the son of Equiano relishes the testing conditions with four of his seven career wins coming on a Heavy track. The gelding also comes into the race off an all-the-way last start win in the Civic Stakes.

Stablemate Snippy Fox has also been nominated for the 1400m feature and will look to take lots of confidence from her fast-finishing fourth in the June Stakes.

Blondeau, New Arangement, Toomuchtobear, True Detetective, Yiyi, and Oscar Zulu have all been nominated to represent champion trainer Chris Waller, with the latter appearing the most serious hope after finishing sharply behind Taksu last start.

Other intriguing nominations for the $160,000 contest includes the in-form Jojo Was A Man, who will be hoping to add a second Winter Stakes to trainer John Thompson's record (2018 – Dreamforce), and Victorian duo Agreeable and Chief Altony.

With the lull of black-type racing upon us, promising juvenile Midnight In Tokyo has been nominated for the 2YO Handicap (1100m). Queensland-trained by Kacy Fogden, the Kobayashi filly showed plenty of promise when flashing home for second in the Group 3 Ken Russell, beating home subsequent JJ Atkins victor Sheeza Belter.

Eager eyes will also be peeled on the three-year-old race where encouraging types Cotton Fingers and Kanazawa have been nominated, as well as the Waller-trained And We Danced, who is still in search of her maiden Australian win – despite finding the frame in four of her five runs.

While queries surround whether racing will go ahead on Saturday or at least last all 10 races, the Randwick surface is currently rated a Heavy 10 with the rail sitting +9m the course entire.
