The Peter and Paul Snowden-trained I Am Superman is Melbourne bound to dodge the continued wet weather in Sydney.

The imported galloper is set to resume in the Group 2 P B Lawrence Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Saturday with a view to contesting a Group 1 race at the same course and track next month.

But Peter Snowden did say that if the tracks happened to dry out in Sydney, the stable would have no hesitation in swinging the now seven-year-old back north of the border.

I Am Superman holds winning form over the 1400m course at Caulfield, and importantly fresh, which Snowden said is when the gelding performs at his best.

Saturday's Group 2 contest is a pre-cursor to the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes (1400m) on September 17.

"This race suits and the track, it's currently a (good) four with light showers expected, and hopefully not too much more than that," Snowden said.

"And if he runs well then, we'll look at the Sir Rupert Clarke in a few weeks' time.

"But it all depends on track conditions. Anything worse than a soft six, he's just not effective on it.

"Unfortunately, up here we're getting hammered. We can't get a drying track, but there are races for him up here, if we get the weather right."

I Am Superman has not started since finishing tenth, beaten six lengths, behind Alligator Blood in the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm in June.

In preparation for his return, I Am Superman won a Rosehill barrier trial on heavy ground last month.

Snowden said I Am Superman would not be lacking in fitness on Saturday.

"He's been in work for quite a while and he's a good fresh horse," Snowden said.

"He's a horse that does not like too much trackwork, that's why we space his races."
