Moranbah secures champion trainer for 40 year black-tie dinner

Moranbah Race Club will celebrate its 40th year anniversary by unveiling a bold five-year plan at a gala black-tie event at Treasure Park on September 10 with champion trainer Peter Moody the guest speaker.

The evening, titled 'Looking Forward, Looking Back', will recap four decades of racing at Treasure Park since its first meeting in March 1982 while revealing their major plans until 2027.

Moody, who trained undefeated Black Caviar to 25 victories, has been locked in for the anniversary.

He is based at Pakenham, about 65km southwest of Melbourne, and while he is best known for his assocation with Black Caviar. Moody (pictured) has had more than 50 Group 1 wins and more than 2400 winners in total.

Over the past couple of years, the club has undergone several changes including the election of its first female president, Melanie Johnson who also manages Johnson Stables for her husband, trainer Bevan Johnson.

Women also compromise 75 per cent of the club's committee.

Of the recent upgrades at the club, situated about 155km southwest of Mackay, new fencing has been installed, the running rail has been upgraded and the members bar been refurbished.

Entertainment for the gala event includes award-winning country singers Caitlyn Shadbolt and Melanie Dyer and comedian Darren Carr.

"Peter has praised the initiative and him making the trip here is great show of confidence in the club and we are hugely grateful," Ms Johnson said.
