Belmont plays host to the Farnley Stakes at Listed level this weekend, with the feature event over 1400m an intriguing affair.

While the racing surface is expected to remain in the Soft range due to some showers about Perth heading into raceday, it's a competitive meeting with a few progressive types taking their place.

In the feature, TRIPLE JAY has come up the deserved favourite for Dan & Ben Pearce.

The five year-old has won four on-end and five of his last 6 outings, with that record looking as though it'll be extended come Saturday afternoon.

The son of Street Boss gunned down Admiration Express over 1650m last start, but returns to the Belmont 1400m where he has become a force to be reckoned with.

He'll ride the speed with William Pike hopping in the saddle this time and he drops in weight despite his last start win.

Triple Jay ticks plenty of boxes and it wouldn't surprise to see him start shorter than his current quote of $2.40*.

Vast Art was game in the Idyllic Prince last start in Heavy going and looks set to peak now third-up with Johnston-Porter hopping back in the saddle.

He'll need some luck from the alley, but he's expected to be closing off well late in the race.

One who can improve sharply is Saloon Bar who was too bad to be true in the sticky going last time out.

He was trending nicely prior to that and now he drops plenty of weight, he's sure to turn his form around.

With all that being said, I'm happy to make TRIPLE JAY my Best Bet of the card.

Over to my Next Best where LOVA SESSION can get the job done in race four.

He was an impressve winner last start in Heavy going, running away to win by 4L over 1300m.

The daughter of Sessions does drop back slightly in trip today, though there does appear to be good speed engaged as she's likely to get back in the run.

Happy to poke holes in the current favourite Keep Attacking also. While he does get Pike and the inside draw, he was there to win last start and faded out of contention after looming large in the straight.

Lova Session rates highly on that latest effort when posting a quick time too, and I'm happy to be in her corner as my Next Best play at Belmont.
