3 minute read

We're back to Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday for a quality metropolitan program featuring seven races.

It has been a generally fine with in the greater Sydney area and the track is rated in the Good (4) range at publish, while the rail will be set out three metres around the entire course.

Check out all of my Randwick-Kensington tips below!

Race 1 - 1:25pm: Anamoe @ Darley Handicap (1300m)

Maori Chief has finished second each of his first two career starts and can go one better today.

The I Am Invincible colt trialled well ahead of his debut and hit the line in races at Newcastle and Canterbury last month.

Fitter third-up, he can begin his rise through the grades.

Race 2 - 2pm: Marcellin College Randwick Handicap (1550m)

Another winning chance for the Waller yard in Sydney on Wednesday is Ti Amo Tanto in Race 2.

Ti Amo Tanto has only made one appearance at the races so far and while he's still clearly learning his craft, he was far from disgraced at Canterbury.

With natural improvement for that experience and under James McDonald, he looks a winning chance this week.

Race 3 - 2:35pm: Star Turn @ Vinery Stud Handicap (1150m)

Astapor is fit and ready to win again at Randwick-Kensington.

Astapor was an eye-catching winner up at Eagle Farm in July, and he has since finished midfield in black type races here in Sydney and in Melbourne.

In peak order today and dropping back to the midweeks, he's my best bet on the program.

Race 4 - 3:10pm: Benchmark 72 Handicap (1800m)

Captain Maverick is third-up and primed for a big effort.

The Free Eagle gelding debuted in Australia in a fair effort at Rosehill last month and enjoyed plenty of improvement into a BM74 race over a mile last time out, finishing on the placegetters' heels.

Fitter third-up and further out in trip this week, he can fight out the finish.

Race 5 - 3:45pm: Hyland Race Colours Handicap (1400m)

Wings Of Desire puts her unbeaten record on the line at Randwick-Kensington.

The well-bred filly stamped herself as one to follow by winning on debut at Hawkesbury in July, while she franked that performance in BM64 company at her latest.

This is another tougher race, but she has plenty of upside and it does look the next logical target.

Race 6 - 4:20pm: The Agency Real Estate Handicap (1000m)

I'm keen on Fire Star when he steps out in the penultimate race in Sydney on Wednesday.

The quality gelding returned to action to finish second, beaten a length and a half in BM64 company before repeating that effort and result, a near miss, up at Wyong.

Fitter third-up, something like this does look within his abilities, and we can have an each way play at current odds ($8 at publish).

Race 7 - 4:55pm: Shinzo At Coolmore Handicap (1400m)

Rock Empire is the one for me in the last.

Rock Empire turned in some fine performances last time in and returned to action with an eye-catching effort to finish second in a similar race at Warwick Farm.

With natural improvement, he can go one better this week.
