Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 16.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Beaudesert and Donald.

BEAUDESERT: RACE 8 @ 4:40 PM

PATMOS ISLAND (7) missed a nose at Warwick third-up almost matching his Victorian best. Has a 2kg claim and the early speed to clear the awkward barrier. Rates well and is sure to take beating lifting to the mile. FORCHE (10) has been knocking on the door at the Sunshine Coast. He will cross over to the speed and go close. ASHER (1) is third-up and has more to give. Has to drop back to the mile but will use an inside gate and has a key gear switch. CHAOTIC CRANACH (8) easily ran his best race winning the Kilcoy Maiden on the heavy this distance range. Has the rail and may prove next best.

DONALD: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

TWOSRET (11) is another strong chance for the lethal Lane-Price-Kent linkage. He's been solid both race-starts (provincials) and lifted to the middle-distance the latest. Has the blinkers applied first time and fitter should be taking this out. LOCH GORMAN (5) placed this distance range off the much improved run here at the mile. He will push forward and can get into the finish. STREUSEL (7) was only beaten 1.8L at Geelong and is back a bit in trip. He'll be in the money holding that form. AMMISHADDAI (1) resumes off the debut outing at 2000m when he ran 4-1. Has been away a long while but the Cumani-trained galloper is worth a look.
