Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 28.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong, Pakenham Synthetic, Bathurst, Northam and Cairns.
WYONG: RACE 1 @ 12:20 PM
The consistent NULLIFY (7) is unlucky to still be a maiden hitting the top five at her past eight starts and strikes a very winnable contest here. Draws the inside alley for Pike and rates the testing material against this lot. TAKING THE MIKKI (6) has placed three of five overall and will strip fitter third-up from the spell. Looms as the main danger. The well-bred and well-related JUMEIRAH BEACH (3) is facing the starter for the first time but has shown enough at the trials and must be respected from the Waterhouse/Bott camp. I AM GERONIMO (2) placed over this track and trip last time out and is one for the multiples. DRESDEN (1) gets 3kg off with the claim and can earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Nullify to win.

PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC: RACE 7 @ 4:00 PM
IIMPULSAR (2) created a good impression at Australian debut at Sandown then wasn't that far away at Caulfield last time. Suited by the rise in journey here. Will play a major role. GRAND QUILL (7) doesn't win all that often but did do a solid job when successful over this course and distance two starts back and has been placed since. Won't be too far away. NOONDAY GUN (3) was comfortably held at Australian debut in town. Will be improved with the run under the belt and the step up in trip suits. Worthy of thought. MAKTASTIC (8) gets onto this surface for the first time. Sticks on well and the firmer surface should assist. Is a place chance.

BATHURST: RACE 1 @ 12:40 PM
WHY DOUBT (2) has been very consistent without winning hitting the top four at her past nine outings and strikes a very winnable contest here. Has placed four from six over this journey and looks the one they all have to run down. INESSA (6) is facing the starter for the first time but looked handy winning a recent Warwick Farm trial and must be respected from the Portelli camp. Monitor market activity. CHAMAL POWER (5) wasn't disgraced when fifth on debut and will derive a lot of benefit with that race day experience now under the belt. One of the main contenders.
SELECTIONS: Why Doubt to win.
NORTHAM: RACE 8 @ 3:12 PM
OLY'S CHOICE (2) spiked his figures again delivering the deserved win this grade. He goes in all conditions and the promising gelding is on a 7-day return. Tipping he can take the next step. KOHLI (1) was just nudged out in Belmont in better grade and has scope for more improvement. Has an awkward barrier but should go close with average luck. AWESOME CHATTER (3) will race handy and go on the all-the-way Belmont win two-back. Gets CJP today for the apprentice and look for a bounce back to the sprint. PLEASE GOD (7) is fast and will push forward. A hope building on the win this level against her own sex at Pinjarra.

CAIRNS: RACE 8 @ 4:12 PM
BATTLE CRY (3) had been threatening before the bush win and then came back home beaten a half length this grade. Rates well and can bounce back. SO YOU DREAM (1) is a danger going on the 3L win two-back at Townsville. Forgive the plain effort at Mackay the latest when things didn't work out. INCHING CLOSER (4) has been racing well without winning. Is up to this and can't be ruled out. ROBIG (6) has got too far back the last two but the win here prior at this level would have him in the mix.
