Today’s Horse Racing Tips – 1st April 2022

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 1.

Picture: Racing Photos.

Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Cranbourne, Geelong, Muswellbrook, Sapphire Coast, Sunshine Coast, Rockhampton, Albany and Mt Gambier.

CRANBOURNE: RACE 6 @ 8:15 PM

LUMBER PUNK (2) got the job done at Bendigo last time out and will take a lot of confidence from that victory. Hill was in the irons for that win and sticks. Should prove very hard to stop again. INVINCIBLE BAY (1) wasn't disgraced at Flemington last start and prior to that had put together some quality efforts. Goes well for Newitt who has two wins and a placing from just four steers and shapes as one to consider. The well-related MAGNETISM (5) will strip fitter third-up and can fill the frame. RIPPLEBROOK (3) best of the rest from the low draw.
SELECTIONS: Lumber Punk to win.

GEELONG: RACE 3 @ 2:00 PM

NO ENVY (2) ex UK and was okay resuming for the Freedman barn over the 1850m bet an 11-4 favourite. Placed on debut this trip at Ascot UK and his figure more than stacks up. The lift to the staying trip suits and this isn't hard. BADDAGINNIE (6) peaks and is an improver who got a lot closer at Yarra Glen from the front. Can set the tempo and fitter could prove the danger. COLERIDGE (1) hurdled the latest but has flat form that would see him in the mix. M'LADY LOIS (7) has had plenty of tries but was just nudged out at Hamilton three-back and may sit closer from a low gate.
SELECTIONS: Backing No Envy.

MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM

TOUGH CASE (10) led all the way last start at this track and trip, getting the job done by 0.4L. He'll push forward from the draw and take plenty of catching. WEATHER CHANNEL (4) returns today with a nice trial under his belt. He was running well in tougher races last campaign and the draw isn't as bad after scratchings. He's been placed on the heavy previously and the 2kg claim increases his chances. He'll be in the finish. ROSIE IMPACT (14) resumes at a distance well short of her best, but may be one to keep an eye out for future races. OAKFIELD TEPEE (13) charged home well first-up and can repeat his latest effort.
SELECTIONS: Expecting Tough Case to get the job done.

SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 3 @ 7:00 PM

KABOOM (3) was heavily-bet and won by a big space on the poly before the lip defeat this grade overcoming a slow off. Gets a leading hoop and handy gate and can bounce back with less weight. BELLICOSITY (2) placed here first-up closing off well after a slow away. He can use the rail today and has plenty up the sleeve. GOOD BEAN (1) led and was much too good for the Maidens on the poly. Folded up after in much tougher grade at Eagle Farm. Has a future and is in the mix. KERRISDALE (4) has a similar profile and can fill the first-four.
SELECTIONS: Backing Kaboom.

ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 4 @ 2:23 PM

NAMAZU (1) built nicely to another deserved win last start. He won by six lengths that day and had plenty in hand at the finish. He meets another small field and can only further improve with racing. He should be winning again. WHAT A THOUGHT (4) was trapped wide throughout last start and understandably faded to finish well back. His two efforts prior are a much better guide to his ability and he should be allowed another chance in this small field. Include in all multiples. TEZOFF (2) ran out of puff late when finishing third in a four horse field on this track last start. He has had a trial in the interim and with a senior hoop taking over the reins he is worthy of consideration.
SELECTIONS: Namazu win bet.

ALBANY: RACE 7 @ 5:10 PM

SOVIET SPY (12) is in a top barn and looks well-placed out of the handicap. Won the 58 by a space at Geraldton heavily-bet and then the money came again here 15 days ago and he was luckless just beaten. Draws for a soft run and can make amends. WILD FUSION (1) missed a nose on that race from the speed improving again. Keeps the 3kg claim and should be right in it. EURASIA (3) was on-pace and not far away in the same contest. Is holding a decent level of form and gets another chance. FREQUENT FRIAR (7) resumed at Ascot beaten 2.4L over 1800m. Fitter and has more to offer. Gets in light with the 4kg claim and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Soviet Spy to win.

MT GAMBIER: RACE 2 @ 1:10 PM

LONGTIMEDREAMING (1) is dropping back from Sandown-Hillside company to a benchmark 58 at Mount Gambier and should be winning this easily. Wins. EAGLES FOREVER (2) showed a lot of courage to dig deep and score by a nose last time out at Penola, he usually races in or near the lead and should again give a good account of himself. Include in all combinations. NED AND POWER (3) built his form nicely to break through for a well deserved win at Bordertown last start and this field isn't much stronger. Watch for him late. BEAR ARMS (4) was in need of his fresh up run in a stronger field and strips much fitter for this, he is a winner of six races and does look well placed in this grade. His winning chances soar on a wet track.
SELECTIONS: Longtimedreaming win bet.
