Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 12.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Armidale, Benalla and Mackay.
ARMIDALE: RACE 4 @ 3:05 PM
STRELITZIA (2) wasn't beaten far on resumption and then was back in business winning the CL1 at Moree. That stacks up and she will go close fitter again. TRAVOLI (3) resumes for the new barn and the Queensland form reads well for this. Owns a trial win and expect a bold return. TIMELY BEL (7) has gone close the last two and was wide throughout at favourite the latest. Gets in light this grade with the 3kg claim and is in the mix. JESELLIX (9) tries hard and won't be far away back to a sprint.
SELECTIONS: Backing Strelitzia.

BENALLA: RACE 4 @ 3:00 PM
PICK UP CHICKS (2) battled on strongly fresh up and then followed that effort up with a big late burst for fifth at Pakenham last time out. He is now ready for the mile and should be very hard to beat. CORNUCOPIA (7) is a long time maiden but has been unlucky on a couple of occasions, most recently last start when being held up in the straight at Geelong. She is knocking on the door and with a bit of luck can shed that maiden status today. PARISIAN VEIL (10) has improved at each run this campaign, finishing a game third last start and will enjoy the extra distance on offer here. The Josh Julius stable is in form and she should be right in the finish.
SELECTIONS: Pick Up Chicks win bet.
MACKAY: RACE 3 @ 2:47 PM
PATROLLING (4) made a winning local debut and did it easily. He will have no problem measuring up to this next grade and with top hoop Ryan Wiggins sticking with him should be winning again. ZIPSPUR (3) has taken a few runs to come up this time in but should now be ready to show his best fourth up. Include in all multiples. SONIC ARROW (6) is usually thereabouts and will race close to the pace from her handy draw. She only missed by a nose last start and is sure to be in the finish today. SHADOW GODDESS (2) might find this distance short of her best but she is winner of two races when fresh up. Watch for her late.
SELECTIONS: Patrolling win bet.
