Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 18.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Warwick Farm, Muswellbrook, Sandown Lakeside, Pakenham, Oakbank and York.
WARWICK FARM: RACE 6 @ 3:40 PM
ATHELRIC (3) was a dominant winner over this track and trip last time out and can go right on with the job now. Strips fitter third-up from the spell and gets the services of McDonald to navigate from the sticky alley. Looks the one to beat. SATIN RIBBONS (8) has never missed the top two in five career starts and draws low for Berry in gate three. Must be included. KING KAPA (12) ran fourth in a Group 2 in his first campaign and has since been dealt the ultimate gear change in being gelded. Respect any moves in betting. OUR BELLAGIO MISS (1) has a handy record over this sprint trip with three wins and two placings from nine attempts and can run a race while fresh. SECRETIVELY (10) best of the rest from the inside alley. SELECTIONS: Athelric to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Warwick Farm Computer Card.
MUSWELLBROOK: RACE 1 @ 12:55 PM
HUBIE DUBIE (8) wasn't disgraced when fourth on debut and will have taken plenty of benefit from that day at the races. Strikes a race here which has been cruelled by scratchings. Suspect she can capitalise. THREETIMESLUCKY (6) has been freshened since his first up outing at this course on March 11. LIMPIDA (13) next best.
SELECTIONS: Hubie Dubie has the most upside of these. Back accordingly.
SANDOWN-LAKESIDE: RACE 6 @ 4:00 PM
Good race. AUSTRATA (13) has built his form nicely this time in with three placings before a last start win when favourite. Out to this trip looks like it will suit and he's drawn ideally again to get an economical run in transit for Jamie Kah. He looks hard to beat again. EAGLEMONT (11) destroyed his opposition first up before racing a bit dour last start. He appeals strongly each way out to this trip third up and onto the bigger circuit. Look for a bold showing. DETONATOR JACK (17) is a lightly raced, talented stayer on the path to better races. The further the better for him and it would be no surprise to see him make it three on end to start his career. LUNATIC FRINGE (12) will strip fitter second up and typical of the breed is improving with racing. Don't take lightly. COMMANDER HARRY (8) has resumed in good form and although he's likely to get back in the run he isn't without a chance in an open race.
SELECTIONS: Follow up on Austrata
PAKENHAM: RACE 4 @ 2:15 PM
SAUNTER BOY (2) won multiple races over Hurdles last season including features The Australian and JJ Houlahan. He can get this season off to a winning start on his way to what should be a lucrative Winter. ST ARNICCA (8) is a promising type who ran out an easy winner last start when favourite. Look for him to build on that effort here and he can figure in the finish. GOBSTOPPER (1) returns to the Hurdles here having missed last season. He was the winner of multiple feature races in 2020 and can't be taken lightly. RUNAWAY (4) will make his own luck on speed and should be in it for a long way. Include among the chances. OUT AND DREAMING (5) has shown good promise over the obstacles and his recent flat form has been excellent. He appeals each way.
SELECTIONS: Saunter Boy is the one to beat.
OAKBANK: RACE 7 @ 4:20 PM
RUSHAWAY LAD (2) hasn't raced since winning smartly at Morphettville in December. His previous form was solid he draws a good barrier and should take some beating here. HILLS (7) was scratched from Saturday for this and would be right in the mix on his recent form running 2nd behind Quietly Discreet at Morphettville. SEA WITNESS (3) won two of four before a break and is two from two this track and trip. He draws awkwardly but looks well placed.
SELECTIONS: Rushaway Lad looks the one to beat.
YORK: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM
CARABINIER (3) has been battling to find his best form in stronger City grade fields. He is unbeaten in three attempts on this track and is very well placed after the 1.5kg apprentice claim. A win would be no surprise. RAGING ROCKET (6) has found his mark at provincial level and was an easy winner in a soft field last start. He will benefit from a three kilo claim and should be right in the finish. IAN'S SPECIAL (7) was unsuited by a wet track in his sole appearance last campaign. He is fresh up today and looked forward when placing at a recent trial. If he is not in need of the run then he will be very hard to beat. Follow any positive market moves. LUCY DA GREY (4) made the most of a good ride and produced a well timed finish to just get up last time out at Narrogin. She is in a good space at the moment and should be thereabouts again.
SELECTIONS: Carabinier win bet.
