Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for April 22.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meeting is today held at Tamworth, Cranbourne, Werribee and Canberra.
TAMWORTH: RACE 3 @ 1:45 PM
JOCAT (11) is a very consistent conveyance who has never missed the top five in eight career starts. Placed around this circuit last time out and gets 2kg weight relief with the claim. Rates the testing material. HOMBRE (6) has been knocking on the door with four runner-up finishes in a row including one over this course and distance. Can go one better against this lot. AVANCER (1) has placed over this track and trip and looks one for the multiples. The well-related TYROL (5) has placed two from two over this journey and can fill the frame. THE GOSSIPER (4) best of the rest with Looker in the saddle.
SELECTIONS: Jocat to win.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Tamworth Computer Card.
CRANBOURNE: RACE 4 @ 7:15 PM
TINGE (9) was no match for the winner over this course and distance last start but stuck on well to finish a comfortable second. Drawn to find a good position in running once again and finds a very winnable race. Expecting her to shed the maiden tag. ADIR STAR (2) has switched to the John Sadler yard and has been gelded since a 1.1L defeat on debut at Ballarat. He hasn't trialled or jumped out since, but showed plenty of ability in his only start. Don't discount. ALISON ROAD (1) is on debut for the Sadler yard and jumped out well recently. Hefel rides who strikes at 25% when riding for Sadler. Can run a bold race on debut. RUN DANCE FLY (5) is best of the rest.
SELECTIONS: Backing Tinged to get the job done.
WERRIBEE: RACE 5 @ 3:30 PM
JUNKO (8) led and won the Maiden by 5.5L and then was okay in stronger than this. Draws to advantage and a 3kg claimer goes on today. Draws to advantage and can bounce back for a top barn. REDNECK PRINCESS (9) is a leader who's placed the last two in the country. Has the handy 2kg claim and will give a sight. WEGOTTEM TODAY SON (7) resumes and has the form to feature if presented on-song. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Backing Junko.
CANBERRA: RACE 5 @ 2:45 PM
Very open on paper. The dual acceptor SHADDY (11) appeals most. Resumed here beaten 1.3L in the CL2 for the new barn further improved and that stacks up. Had trialled well in town prior and the longer sprint suits. Gets plenty of weight relief at this level and draws to advantage. CRUCIAL WITNESS (8) impressed just missing here before the break and then found one much too good on resumption. The longer trip suits and Loy is a key jockey booking. Draws for the run of the race and is a player. PROPOSE A TOAST (5) was quickly back to his best here second up taking out the 65. Fitter now and should be right in it riding the speed. MILAMOO (4) is in a rare vein of form and surprised the market again just missing behind Devil's Triangle following the first-up win. Keeps the 3kg claim and will be fitter again. MR ALOYSIUS (10) led and gave it away late here 7-days ago this grade. Was much better beaten 1L prior this trip and is suited on a track likely to suit on-pacers.
SELECTIONS: Going with Shaddy each way.
CANBERRA: RACE 4 @ 2:10 PM
PENTHOUSE (12) resumes for the sharp Matt Dale barn and has the figures to be winning this. Placed on debut in Listed grade in Brisbane and then was spelled off the near miss at Moruya bet 7-4F. She's sure to have come on and will take plenty of beating if presented on-song. ICE ON FIRE (7) is also in good local hands. Led and was just nudged out here first-up heavily bet. Had come off a very long break and is sure to be improved. She will run along from a handy gate and will take passing. MARVELOUS (2) resumes and will be very competitive if presented ready. The only fresh effort was good and the provincial efforts after read well. SEQUIN DRESS (10) debuts for a leading Sydney barn and the city trials have been good. Very wary of her and elevate if the big money comes.
SELECTIONS: Backing Penthouse.
