Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 6.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Cranbourne, Wagga, Wodonga, Armidale, Townsville and Albany.
CRANBOURNE: RACE 3 @ 6:45 PMFLAME OF VENICE (9) is unlucky to still be a maiden with three runner-up finishes from her past four outings. Has placed one from one over this staying test and will be at peak fitness for this. Should be right there when the whips are cracking. WHIRLY JIG (5) is improving with racing and the step-up to 2080m looks to suit. Expected to play a strong hand. FANTASTIC GALAXY (8) was too bad to be true last time out but the two runs prior were full of merit. Respect from the Maher/Eustace stable. LEGATUS (2) has been thereabouts in recent outings and is a must for the multiples.
SELECTIONS: Flame Of Venice to win.

WODONGA: RACE 2 @ 12:30 PM
FREDDY MAC (2) brought strong form to resumption and was beaten a lip at Bendigo. He goes wet and dry and fitter and back to a country Maiden is clearly the one to beat. POWER GLIDER (9) placed first-up and is improved. Draws for a soft run and can build on that. BILLY BUTCHER (1) is an improver presenting off a freshen and is in the mix with a good ride. LIDGATE (8) resumed in town and led before folding after the 200m. She's likely to cross over and can stick on better in easier grade. MY BOY MO (6) peaks and showed more at Wagga. Can skip over and control the race and is in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Freddy Mac to win.
ARMIDALE: RACE 8 @ 4:40 PM
TUCSON VALLEY (9) has won two of the last three and delivered by 7.3L at Wellington the latest. Was heavily-bet again and has the speed to clear the awkward gate. She can go right on with it. OLD TIMING MAN (4) has been threatening at Grafton in Open grade. He runs along and despite the weight lift gets his chance at this level. STAR OF HARADA (5) turned the form around beaten 1L this grade at Tamworth. Draws for the run of the race and is a chance to go one better. PACE STICK (7) resumes and has trialled well. He won't be far away if presented on-song. SELECTIONS: Backing Tucson Valley to win.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 4 @ 12:42 PM
PANIAGUA (1) was an oh-so-easy winner fresh up and then had an excuse next time up when finishing third of four, as his saddle had shifted during the running. He has won half of his 18 career starts and should have the class edge over his rivals today. On top. CONQUERING JUDAS (5) disappointed as a beaten favourite last time out but was a month between runs and probably just needed the race, he had won three on the bounce prior to that and looks to be the only danger to the top selection. BRAINS (4) was a well beaten fourth of five last start and seemed to struggle with the soft track conditions, he is much better than what he has been showing lately and is quite capable of filling a placing in this small field. COASTAL PRINCE (6) should be nearing his peak fitness fourth up and he does have a good record at the distance. Include in all multiples.

ALBANY: RACE 4 @ 2:50 PM
ODDONEOUT (12) is running out of chances but has threatened and there was only a nose in it hear the latest. Needs a good ride but rates to go one better. SECRET LAIR (5) will be better for the two runs back for a new barn. He has more up the sleeve and gets a senior hoop for the apprentice. Tipping quick improvement. MONEY FOR MUSIC (7) is in a top barn and returned here in good order. Pulled up with an issue after at Scarpside in stronger. Draws out but can get back on track. BONAMICO (6) is an improver going well enough to fill a slot.
