Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for May 18.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Randwick, Belmont Park, Ballarat, Sunshine Coast Poly and Mt Gambier.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 7 @ 3:45 PM
FROM THE BUSH (1) is a model of consistency who rarely puts in a bad effort. Drawn to get a cosy run from the low draw and will be at peak fitness for this. Sure to go very well. NORMAN (12) gets in well at the weights and looks to be working up to another victory. Among the main players. FIELDS OF HONOUR (10) placed here last time out and is sure to appreciate the step-up in trip. Top-three contender. COMME BELLA FILLE (7) has placed two from two over this journey and can run a race while fresh. The honest BARRICHELLO (5) is yet to miss the top five in 12 career outings and is one for the exotics players.

PUCKAPUNYAL (10) has always had plenty of talent. Probably hasn't made the most of it to this point but looks like she is some chance of coming good on it now after a most impressive win last time. Landed a good Warrnambool Handicap there and now this thins right down after scratchings and gives her another kick from the spot. Betting she converts. HE'S EXCLUSIVE (7) has been freshened. Couldn't see out the mile last time and now back to 1400m. That looks a big plus. INFLUENTIAL JACK (2) continues to race well and must be respected. That wide draw no longer looks any concern.
SELECTIONS: Right race for Puckapunyal.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 2:24 PM
BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 2:24 PMDESERT VIXEN (5) opened this prep two weeks ago and scored over 1100m after settling up on the pace and then managed to run the leaders down to grab the victory by a head margin. Well placed here and won't be far away at the line. COLOSSAL (3) put up a game run to win on debut when sent out as the favorite, looks to be a smart type who can score again. MY MARLAINA (1) showed good speed and fought on for second over 1100m at Ascot last time following an all of the way win over 1299m. Hard to see her not figuring in the finish on recent efforts. FATALE FEMME (2) raced below par at her last appearance four-and-a-half months ago when seventh over 1200m at this track after hanging inwards in the straight. Has claims if she races more kindly today.
SELECTIONS: Desert Vixen to win.
MT GAMBIER: RACE 3 @ 1:20 PM
EAGLES FOREVER (3) runs along and has won three of his last four. The latest was up to this distance in a 66 and he can go right on with it with the top hoop sticking. TILL IT'S OVER (6) was quickly back to form placing second-up at Warrnambool. That stacks right up and the middle distance is right up her alley. BRIGADIER (2) placed the latest behind the top selection and continues to threaten. He can use the low barrier and is again a player. EQUINE PHILOSOPHER (5) would win this at best but was in need of it first-up. May need one more but keep safe.

SUNSHINE COAST POLY: RACE 4 @ 1:43 PM
LANDSBOROUGH LAD (1) resumed at Ipswich a 2-1 favourite and found one too good from a wide gate. Draws low today and has more to give. The lethal Maloney-Vandyke linkage is hard to risk. JOHNNY THUNDER (3) improved again at Ipswich beaten 1.5L. Should get a soft run and is a chance to go one better. LEGAL CHOICE (7) is an improver who's been switched from Sydney by the Waller hard. Has been freshened and is right up to this at best. RED HOT RUBIX (2) trialled well and was just nudged out at Eagle Farm on debut. Has to manage a wide gate but fitter won't be far away.
