Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 6.
Major metropolitan meetings are today held at Randwick, Belmont Park, Doomben and Flemington.
RANDWICK: RACE 9 @ 4:15 PM
IL AFFARE (4) has been solid enough in both starts back and should be right at her peak third up. A key switch with McDonald going aboard and she's drawn to get every hope. The form through Frumos has already worked out very well and she should take some holding out. CONTRIBUTINGFACTOR (2) won well last start albeit in lesser company. Likely to get back from the draw but should be strong late. FIRST LIGHT (5) showed good improvement second up and is another aided by the step up in trip. Has room to move on best form and has to be included. BOLD MAC (1) did just enough to win in his Australian debut and no reason to think he can't go on with the job.
SELECTIONS: Backing Il Affare third up.

CASINO: RACE 5 @ 2:31 PM
ROUND OF APPLAUSE (3) ran a bold race over this journey last time, leading for much of the way and boxing on to finish 0.6L away in third at Sunshine Coast Poly. Well-placed and is the one to run down. SAILING (1) went fast early and went on to score by a half a length last time out over 1200m at Murwillumbah. Will be prominent in running. Can give a bold sight again. SENECA FALLS (4) got the money last time over 1210m at Lismore, scoring by 1.75 lengths. Enjoys some weight relief here. Has to be respected. STAREMM (9) was second last start over this distance at Inverell and will carry less weight today. Jeff Kehoe stays on and although yet to win has been in the money on two occasions. Not to be discounted.
SELECTIONS: Backing Round Of Applause to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 8 @ 3:47 PM
GARIBALDI (8) is close to a win after placing at two of his three starts since a spell. Enjoys a handy weight drop on the last-start third here and will be reaching peak fitness. Hard to knock the consistency of SNOWZONE (12) who has placed in his last three runs in Sydney. Nicely drawn and comes in well at the weights. BOOMTOWN LASS (10) hasn't been far away in two runs since a spell. Has a good record here and she will be nearing her peak. The best form of DESERT LORD (3) can win this while BANDIPUR (1) is back from a long break but has won two trials. Market watch.
SELECTIONS: Garibaldi to break through.
GOLD COAST: RACE 4 @ 2:44 PM
DU MAURIER (2) has an imposing record over this track and distance and backing-up quickly after scoring a hard fought victory here on July 30. Pengelly sticks and he has the option of going forward or taking a sit. The one to beat. FIGHTING MAGNUS (4) is only lightly-raced but building a good record. Up in grade today after scoring over 1500m at Warwick last time. Hellyer retains the ride and should figure prominently. DOGMATIC (1) has been racing in the city so should enjoy the class drop. SILESIAN (3) is nearing his peak now fourth-up and indicated a win was close when a tough second last start at Gatton. Just needs luck from the gate.
SELECTIONS: Du Maurier to win.
MOE: RACE 3 @ 1:36 PM
THINK FRENCH (12) chased gamely only to just miss out at Cranbourne last time over a similar trip. Is drawn to get a good run and should prove tough to stop. STAR OF KONGO (6) has only faced the starter on three occasions and past two outings have been full of promise. Will be up on the speed here and could take running down. INDREAMSYOU'REMINE (3) showed improvement when stepped up in trip at Bendigo last time. Rises in distance again here but looks up to the test. Has to be respected. AUSPIRIT (10) has only had the two starts and made ground on debut before just battling here last time. Extra ground is likely to suit and improvement is on the cards.
SELECTIONS: Back Think French to win.
