Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for June 16.
Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Wyong, Wangaratta, Warren, Northam and Townsville.
WYONG: RACE 3 @ 1:20 PMPOKERJACK (2) is unlucky to still be a maiden finishing runner-up at his past three outings. Gets the benefit of McLucas' 3kg claim again who has been on board for those three placings and sticks. Should be right there at the business end. MA'S DREAM (8) put in a respectable effort when third on debut and will have taken a lot of benefit from that day at the races. Can improve enough to play a role in this contest. OAKFIELD BLOSSOM (9) strips fitter second-up and gets the services of King to navigate from the wide draw. In the mix. LIMPIDA (7) is drawn to get a soft run in transit from the inside alley and can earn some minor money. DONA ANTONIA (5) best of the rest from the astute stable.

WANGARATTA: RACE 8 @ 4:30 PM
DUKE OF NEWORLEANS (1) can be hard to follow as he has had a big reputation right from his debut 8 length win at Geelong in December 2020. Form last campaign was mixed but on his best form is expected to give this a sight. SINGLE HONOR (5) disappointed on the synthetic at Ballarat last time. Previous form had been consistent and can bounce back here. FRISSON (6) raced handy to the speed and boxed on well last time. Won't be too far away at the business end. DEFENCE FORCE (15) has been racing in consistent fashion and should be around the mark again.

WARREN: RACE 6 @ 4:05 PM
MASTER OF REWARDS (4) won a trial before the length defeat at Tamworth on debut. It was a big effort after a slow off and fitter he looks capable of finishing over the top of them. SAMURAI SUN (11) is in good hands and did about what expected first-up and the former SA galloper can make sharp improvement. The near-miss at Murray Bridge two-back reads well and she draws to advantage. VELVET STAR (14) has been freshened off threatening efforts. She should have the speed to manage the wide barrier and is in the mix. A gap to the rest.

NORTHAM: RACE 5 @ 2:12 PM
SENORITA DOROTEA (8) has run second at all three career starts to date and only narrowly went down as favourite first up from a spell over 1000m. Will land on speed and looks primed to break through here. PICK AND PAY (2) is first up from a spell. Will get better over further but has run some solid races in his career and wouldn't shock. DRAGONFLIES (1) has had a few chances but showed nice improvement second up at Pinjarra and will be ready to peak third up. ARTIE DODGER (6) is a first-starter by Artie Schiller out of Maghro who has won a trial and looks a key danger.
SELECTIONS: Senorita Dorotea to win.
TOWNSVILLE: RACE 5 @ 3:17 PM
BARNEY'S BLAZE (11) was just beaten at Sale and then came north and won the CL1 comfortably at Rocky bet a 1-2F. Jumps in grade and gets a stack of weight relief with the 3kg claim. He can take the next step. DAWN TOO GOOD (1) led and won the CL3 by a space here spiking his figures. Uses the rail and fitter should go close. PROXIMATE CAUSE (7) placed as favourite behind the above first-up and has the speed to cross-over and control the race. He will give a sight. WAR GENERAL (13) was only beaten 1.2L here 5-days ago improving quickly. He has more up the sleeve and won his only third-up outing. Needs a good ride from the 2kg claimer pushing forward from the awkward barrier.
SELECTIONS: Backing Barney's Blaze to win.
