Australian thoroughbred Tab meetings are today held at Tamworth, Mildura, Gatton, Bordertown, Broome and Canberra .

TAMWORTH: RACE 3 @ 1:40 PM

RUSSIAN STANDARD (6) faces his easiest challenge to date when resuming here. Has shown promising signs in five career starts without breaking through and has proven he can run well fresh. Looks to have a clear edge on these. LOVELIER (9) was racing well without winning before a disappointing display last start on a Heavy surface here. Should get better conditions this time and has enough pace to offset the wide draw. Winning hope. CAROLINE BAY (14) never looked likely on debut at Newcastle but tried hard to the line to finish fourth. Likely improver. PLISKOVA (10) looked very impressive in a recent trial at Scone and can run a big race on debut.
SELECTIONS: Backing Russian Standard to win.

MILDURA: RACE 4 @ 1:50 PM

SCREWED DOWN (8) has been in terrific form this campaign and was only beaten 0.2L last start after sitting wide and without cover. Teo Nugent hops aboard who strikes at 20% when riding for Preusker. He'll be hard to beat in a competitive race. IN HER STRIDE (4) can't be faulted, winning three of her past four, including a win in this grade at Donald last start. She's a winner at this track and has relished the 1200m. She'll be right there at the finish. MENNEA (6) returns a gelding after over a year off the scene, but did look good in his recent jump outs. He's drawn well, and is a very interesting runner on resumption. ENUFF HE SAID (9) disappointed in much tougher company last start but his prior efforts were very good. Not out of this. IT'S KIND OF MAGIC (2) improved last start and loves the 1200m journey. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Screwed Down gets the nod.

GATTON: RACE 2 @ 11:35 AM

MISHANI MISTRESS (5) has won over this journey and is drawn to get a soft run from gate two. Looks a key player. SKATER (10) has placed at her past couple and will be at peak fitness now fourth-up from the break. In the mix. CRAIGLEA AGENA (2) has only missed the top two once in five career starts and is one for the multiples. DEB'S ELLIE (3) looked handy winning on debut and can come on from that run. Among the main chances.
SELECTIONS: Mishani Mistress to win.

BORDERTOWN: RACE 5 @ 2:10 PM

CANIDAE (2) was well held in a much stronger race in town last start but did start single figures and looks very tough to beat here. He's got an excellent record here and will go close. ALI ORPHAN (7) found the line well at Mt Gambier over 1403m last time out and should be thereabouts from a soft gate. NANA DULCE (9) is racing consistently and looks well placed back in trip here. CHEEKY GRACE (5) is a last-start maiden winner who can measure up.
SELECTIONS: Canidae to win.

BROOME: RACE 3 @ 2:28 PM

GORGEOUS GUS (4) is third-up seeking the hat-trick and has been doing it comfortably. Draws better today and with weight relief rates to go right on with it. CITY REGAL (1) just missed in stronger than this bringing a string of wins. The 2kg claim helps with some of the weight lift and he's a chance to bounce. GUARDED (6) missed the hat-trick as favourite third-up and prepared to forgive. Draws well and has the handy 3kg claim. Peaks and can be in the finish. POCKET PISTOL (5) has been mixing venues and can get into the money finding his best.
SELECTIONS: Backing Gorgeous Gus.

CANBERRA: RACE 8 @ 4:33 PM

LETHAL LADY (4) looked hard to roll before key scratchings. Wasn't beaten far in the Group 3 Black Opal then resumed at Queanbeyan and the rider reported she didn't handle the tight track. She won't have that excuse today and draws to advantage. Expect sharp improvement on the 11-day return. YESTERDAY'S GONE (7) resumes for another leading local barn with a small claim. Is sure to have come on and make the finish. EVENING STAR (9) won the Open 2 here by a big space on debut (heavy surface) and then did nothing resuming at Dubbo. Has trialled in town since and quick improvement is on the cards. STUNNING SUNRISE (10) runs along and was an easy Maiden winner two-back. The heavy surface will be no bother and she's in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Backing Lethal Lady.
