Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for September 29.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Dubbo, Port Macquarie, Mornington, Sunshine Coast, Port Lincoln, Bunbury and Devonport.
DUBBO: RACE 5 @ 3:20 PM
BUSH TELEGRAPH (1) progressive mare who resumes from a six month spell. Raced with distinction in strong company last time in and since fitted with the two searching trials. Looks a strong chance. CAN DO CANTO (19) lightly raced mare set to peak third up in this easier contest. Stuck on well when a tough fourth over 1300m at Hawkesbury on September 7. Handles all conditions and ready to win. MRS BULL (11) first-up after four months she rattled late when an unlucky fifth over 1100m at Bathurst on September 15. Maps to get the right run and will relish the extra distance. ROTHGATE (5) won third-up under a big weight and while up in grade could go on with it.
SELECTIONS: Bush Telegraph to strike fresh.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Dubbo Computer Card.
PORT MACQUARIE: RACE 5 @ 3:30 PM
AGIRLSBESTFRIEND (3) gets back so always needs some luck and didn't get much of it in a Highway at Rosehill when runner-up. Sure to be running on strongly as usual. GALLIC FOX (4) is a good wet tracker freshened up since a fair run at Goulburn a month ago. Keep in mind. SOUND AND VISION (1) ran a nice race first-up and will appreciate the extra distance. Can continue to improve. WILDERNESS STAR (9) and AMALFI AMORE (8) are in the mix.
SELECTIONS: Agirlsbestfriend to win.
MORNINGTON: RACE 5 @ 3:35 PM
LODBROK (7) is a consistent type who is relatively lightly raced compared to a few of these. He was beaten less than a length last start at Cranbourne over 2060m behind a smart type and a repeat of that effort would go close here. GOVERNOR KING (6) has seven starts under his belt. He was good last start at Seymour in this grade and he draws well here. Good each way hope. DUKE OF HASTINGS (4) drops in class having been okay in some recent racing against better opposition. This suits. PROPRIETARY (8) is in the mix on best form.
SELECTIONS: Lodbrok on top.
SUNSHINE COAST: RACE 7 @ 4:15 PM
MERCHANT FLYER (4) has come back in fine fashion placing here on both occasions and looks ready for the mile journey now. Strips fitter third-up from the spell and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. NEWMARKET MISS (15) doesn't win out of turn but has remarkably hit the top-five in 14 of her past 15 starts and doesn't know how to run a bad race. A must for the exotics players. WARRANT (2) draws the inside and has claims off the win two starts back. DUMA (12) has placed over this track and trip and may earn some minor money.
SELECTIONS: Merchant Flyer to win.
PORT LINCOLN: RACE 8 @ 5:50 PM
SUNZOU (3) has given backers a bold sight in his two runs back, only to be bettered by two smart ones. Peaking now and is drawn to advantage. Only needs to hold his form to prove too tough to catch for his rivals. THE HASS (5) returned with a bang in town but hasn't been able to go on with it yet. Has been freshened with a 50-day break, keeping the legs ticking over with a trial here. Back in trip and 3kg claimer going on gets in him in light at the weights. Can bounce back sharply. KAIDO (9) made a mess of his rivals first-up and then went close to making it two on the bounce. Not as effective last start but can get things back on track with winning hoop reuniting. SHUTTLE RUN (10) returns off a long break in a stable debut for Jackie Stoetzer. Trial in suggests he can play a role but treading cautiously. Will pay to watch what the late money thinks.
SELECTIONS: Sunzou to win.
BUNBURY: RACE 7 @ 7:05 PM
OUR MATE ARCHIE (3) made up for his unlucky debut performance by winning at Northam 14 days ago, scoring by 0.5L. He looks a nice horse won the way through and his form has already been franked. Pike sticks, the extra 100m looks perfect and he can continue his winning ways. GOLD KEEPER (6) got too far back last start and never featured at Belmont, beaten a long way. He draws much better this time for Azzopardi and he'll find this a touch easier than his recent efforts. Can bounce back in a big way. OUR NEMESIS (2) ran over the top to win impressively at the end of last campaign, scoring by 1.1L in this grade at Belmont. He resumes without a trial, though the booking of Parnham suggests he's going well. Drawn nicely and can return in good order. DEEP SPEED (1) resumed in good order and has winning claims if she can hold that form. OLIVIA'SMEMUMMA (5) won't be far away if she can pick up where she left off.
SELECTIONS: Our Mate Archie can go back-to-back.
DEVONPORT SYNTHETIC: RACE 6 @ 3:45 PM
SHARMA'S LAST (1) resumed in stronger and took it out. He has more up the sleeve and is proven second-up. Has the handy 2kg claim and fitter can go on with the job. CORNELIAN BAY (6) resumed this grade in good order and then was back to his best nudged out in a 60. The longer sprint is a slight niggle but he will be fitter again and is on a quick back-up. THE SPIRIT OF ZERO (4) made good improvement winning the 64 this track/trip. Finally draws a low barrier and can't be ruled out. CHICANE (8) is also a last-start 60 winner and the 2kg claimer can use the inside barrier. He has claims as well.
SELECTIONS: Going with Sharma's Last.
