Sydney’s big wet has certainly left its mark and while hopeful for a better track safe to say it will be bottomless.

Leading rider James McDonald is booked for 9/10 favourites on Saturday with the Godolphin trained Andermatt the shortest elect ($1.90).

The fifth event is the only race McDonald isn't riding the favourite and happy to play in that event with the Chris Waller trained Kir Royale.

First up since finishing third at this track back in January the daughter of I Am Invincible has displayed good ability and looks well placed to make a winning return.

Stablemate Zarastro and the Price and Kent Jnr trained Sense Of Honour both hold a place at the top end of the market, but happy to oppose both, hence it sets up a bet for Kir Royale.

Once thought Zarastro was a very promising horse but it's very hard to be enthused by both of his runs this time in.

A switch back to Sydney might help and McDonald legs aboard however there is little concrete evidence to suggest he is actually any good.

As for Sense Of Honour she returned off a 658 day break last start when safely held at Sandown over 1000m.

The figures out of that were weak and she now comes up to Sydney to a much harder race and appears extremely well found.

Not easy striking a heavy track first up however if Kir Royale gets through the ground she should be very hard to beat.

The last event sees the Maher and Eustace trained Nikau Spur well placed to go a couple better following his solid run at Canterbury first up.

Very much doubt a track like Canterbury suited him and while a little wary he is being set for "The Bool' this appears a winnable assignment.

Sure to appreciate the step up to 1400m, just hoping Berry can find a back to follow coming into the straight.

On best form he appears well placed and is expected to be right in the finish it what looks an open race to round out the day.
