Two nice efforts in stakes races and a closing last-start placing under a big weight should have Garibaldi ready to peak at Doomben on Saturday.

Tony Gollan's gelding has returned strong ratings in three runs so far this campaign including a fresh second in the Listed Lightning Quality as well as a third under 59kg at this course and distance last start.

The 3kg claim of Angela Jones means Garibaldi gets a significant weight drop for the step up to open grade and he will be ready to show his best fourth up.

Chris Waller's mare Joviality has relished the switch to Queensland and looks well placed to make it back-to-back wins on Saturday.

She dug deep to score at this same track last outing and it added to a handy record at the distance, her fourth success from nine attempts.

James Oman sticks and should secure her the favours from the rails draw.
