Racing and Sports provides two horses to watch coming out of midweek racing on December 15.
Race 4: Head Legislator
Having put impressive back-to-back wins together before going for a spell, the son of Headwater resumed over 1200m in the in the Magic Million 3&4YO Stakes.
A firm third elect in the market ($3.60), the four-year-old was worst to leave when jumping from his inside draw and settled a clear last under the riding of Nash Rawiller.
Travelling rearward for a majority, Rawiller got going on his mount passing the 600m peeling three-wide, but still in the last group of horses.
Taken wider when rounding the home bend, the gelding straightened in clear running allowing Rawiller to pop the question early and get stuck into the deficit.
Working through his gears nicely, the four-year-old made good ground down the outside before peaking late on his run over the concluding stages.
Beaten just under a length on the line (0.8L), Head Legislator has returned in great order and had he had the run of the winner most likely wins by a comprehensive margin.
This gelding is definitely worth following in proceeding runs and will undoubtedly make his presence felt on the Gold Coast during the Magic Millions carnival.
Race 6: Miss Hellfire
Having been impressive in two Randwick trial wins in the lead-up, this daughter of Hellbent was sent out a clear third pick ($5.50) in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.
On debut over the 1100m, the two-year-old was one of the best away from her outside draw (8) and quickly shot up under the riding of Kerrin Mcevoy to settle second in the early part.
Travelling without cover and a touch keenly throughout, the filly could be forgiven if she was to put in a plain finish by the time they rounded the home-turn.
Instead, when straightening the two-year-old kept going and gave a strong kick passing the 200m finding the front not long after, and looked to be on her way to scoring a winning debut.
Unfortunately, the filly couldn't hold on and was collared late by the fast finishing Soaring Ambition (looks promising).
Beaten a long neck (0.3L), Miss Hellfire put in an extremely game on pace effort. This filly won't take long to get off the mark. Blackbook.
