Morphettville Race Review on 29th January 2022

Goolwa based trainer John Macmillan was well pleased with his three-year-old gelding Fox Gem in winning the 1200 metre opening event at Morphettville on Saturday.

Coming from last soon after the field entered the straight the Todd Pannell ridden Fox Gem  came with a strong run late in the event to win in his last stride.

Jockey Ryan Hurdle continued his good run when Harleymoven was too strong for his rivals in winning the 1525 metre second race.

Prepared at Murray Bridge by Dan Clarken and Oopy MacGillivary and being second up after a spell Harleymoven came from the rear of the field with a late run to win strongly.

Legionnaire  broke the shackles when she took out the 1200 metre third race.

Prepared at Cranbourne by John Moloney the Jess Eaton ridden Legionnaire was well placed throughout.

Jockey Ryan Hurdle landed an early double when he rode Spin the Reward to success in the 1100 metre fourth race.

Prepared at Mount Gambier by Peter Hardacre Spin the Reward, who was resuming after a spell, came with a strong run from a rearward position.

The Bordertown training partnership of James and Lisa Dodgson were well pleased with the win of Territory Titan in the 1600 metre fifth race.

Guided to victory by Anna Jordsjo Territory Titan began well and maintained a forward position throughout the event.

Barend Vorster  was seen at his best when he rode Morty to a win in the 1600 metre sixth race.

Prepared at Strathalbyn by Shane Cahill Morty came from a midfield position with a strong run over the last few metres to bring up win number three from sixteen starts.

Montign showed his class when he brought up his second successive win in the 1800 metre seventh race.

Having the services of Kayla Crowther and coming out of the Stuart Padman stable at Murray Bridge Montign came from a better than midfield position with a strong run over the concluding stages.

The all-the-way win of Kemalpasa gave his further status when he took out the Listed Durbridge Stakes which was run over 1100 metres.

Trained by Richard and Chantelle Jolly and guided to victory by Paul Gatt, hid regular jockey Jake Toeroek being in isolation due to Covid 19, Kemalpasa provided the first winning place for the Jolly family when he beat the David Jolly prepared Behemoth with senior member of the family Peter training the fourth placegetter Morvada.

Doing most of his racing in Port Lincoln Kingson graduated to city company when he took out the 1200 metre final event.

Having the services of Dom Tourneur and trained by Byron Cozamanis jnr at Port Lincoln Kingson was well placed in winning in a tight finish.
