Midweek racing was back at Warwick Farm and Sandown on Wednesday and we've found a horse from each meeting to follow.

Race 4

Most of the attention will be focused on the winner Old Flame but I'm looking past him to his international counterpart in the form of Uncle Bryn. He had to carry 63kg and went back to the inside at the top of the straight which wasn't the place to be on the day. He also had to wait for runs between the 300-200m and pick up again, which isn't easy with the big weight. His last 200m was faster than the winner, and he was clearly in front past the post. The son of champion racehorse Sea The Stars is a listed placegetter over 2000m in the UK and will be much better suited getting up in trip this preparation.

Race 2

Following another import out of this race, with the winner Waterford looking very impressive in maiden grade, first up in Australia at just his second race start. The 3YO colt sat back under Tommy Berry, came widest on the turn and rounded them up impressively in the straight despite doing a couple of things wrong. The stablemate he beat in Headliner did have some strong form, having run 2nd to Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside on debut, and finishing within 3.5 lengths of Fangirl at listed level last preparation. Waterford will only continue to improve with race experience, and it wouldn't shock me to see him target one of the big money provincial races after the carnival such as the Hawkesbury Guineas or 'The Coast' at Gosford.
