Nine highlights of the AFLW fixture

The AFLW fixture has been released for season seven, with a host of key matches and feature rounds to look out for.

HIGHLIGHTS IN AFLW SEASON SEVEN FIXTURE

* Carlton v Collingwood, August 25

The Blues and Magpies return to the venue where they kicked off the women's competition back in 2017, squaring off again to open season seven at Ikon Park.

* Adelaide v Melbourne, August 26

Daisy Pearce has decided to play on for the Demons and will be keen to help her side exact some revenge in their first meeting with the Crows since last season's grand final.

* Essendon v Hawthorn, August 27

These two expansion teams hail from clubs with a long-standing and fierce rivalry, and will be eager to mark their AFLW debuts with a win.

* Sydney v GWS, September 10

The Swans have finally arrived in the women's competition and face their cross-town rivals for the first time at the SCG in round three.

* Gold Coast v St Kilda, September 18

The Suns take AFLW to Mackay in one of several matches to be played in regional centres this season. Games will also be played in Ballarat, Warrnambool and Mildura.

* Essendon v Richmond, September 18

The first women's 'Dreamtime' clash is the feature of the AFLW Indigenous Round, which runs across rounds three and four.

* Richmond v Brisbane, September 24

The Tigers host the Lions at Punt Road Oval on the same day as the men's grand final next door at the MCG. The women's match, starting at 11.10am, will be part of the festivities in the Yarra Park precinct.

* Port Adelaide v Adelaide, September 30

Erin Phillips is the biggest name in the women's game and caused a huge stir by crossing to Port Adelaide - her family's club - after a premiership-laden stint with the Crows. The two clubs meet in the first women's Showdown in round six.

* Essendon v Sydney and Geelong v West Coast, October 15

Pride Round takes centre stage in round eight, featuring a double-header celebration at Ikon Park.
