Essendon are undergoing a football review while Kevin Sheedy revisited the supplements saga, but Peter Wright says they remain focused on the Carlton tie.

Essendon forward Peter Wright says the AFL club's football department review and Kevin Sheedy revisiting the supplements saga hasn't distracted the Bombers ahead of their 150th anniversary match against Carlton.

The struggling Bombers face Carlton on Friday night, eyeing an upset win to celebrate their history.

It comes less than two weeks after Essendon president Paul Brasher announced football director Sean Wellman would oversee the review on behalf of the board.

"It's (the review has) definitely been pretty insignificant for us, we feel. Very little has been said about it inside the four walls and that's definitely for the higher powers to talk about for us," Wright told AAP.

"We're always looking as players and as coaches at different ways we can improve our processes and the way we perform on game day and we know that results haven't been where we want them.

"So we're always looking for different ways to improve and I guess that's no different.

"But for us, we're definitely looking forward to working on what we've working on, continuing to make inroads in that and playing more towards our best football.

"Honestly, I haven't been yet talked to about what that means (for players). I can honestly say it's above my head and I'll let them deal with that in good time."

Sheedy revisited the Bombers' 2013 supplements saga by calling for the AFL to apologise for its handling of the saga in a News Corp interview on Monday.

"Honestly, it is outside noise," Wright said.

"There would only be a handful of boys who were here through those times like Hepp and Hurls (Dyson Heppell and Michael Hurley) that have been through a lot of it.

"But for a lot of the playing group it is ancient history, history that we've never really been a part of.

"So I guess it doesn't have much of an impact on our psyche and especially when we get in the club we're absolutely focused on football."

Essendon are 2-9 after the bye and Wright was confident they could make inroads in the second half of the season.

"I don't think we're looking at forecasting too much of a win-loss ratio," he said.

"What's really important for us, what we want to do and what we need to do is make sure we've identified a really strong identity and are playing some consistent football.

"I feel like if we do that we'll continue to improve and finish the year really strongly and hopefully continue to carry that momentum through."
