Pat Cummins has taken three wickets on his Kolkata Knight Riders recall, leading them to an IPL victory over the Mumbai Indians despite Jasprit Bumrah's 5-10.

Mumbai Indians fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has taken five wickets for just 10 runs but has still been upstaged in the Indian Premier League by Pat Cummins.

On his recall to the Kolkata Knight Riders, Australia's Test captain took three wickets in an over to set up victory in Mumbai on Monday.

Cummins finished with 3-22 off his four overs as the home side were dismissed for 113, 52 runs adrift of KKR.

"I think I've played enough to not worry too much about the ups and downs, especially of T20 cricket. I looked at my first four games and was pretty honest that I didn't bowl particularly well," Cummins said.

"The last few games on the bench have been a good chance to look at Tim Southee who has been bowling fantastically well, so learning off someone like him and when I got my chance again just trying to be that little bit more disciplined."

Cummins made a two-ball duck as Bumrah destroyed the KKR innings, reducing them from 2-123 in the 13th over, to 9-165 after 20. His haul included three wickets in four balls.

With Aussie Aaron Finch dropped after a run of low scores Venkatesh Iyer (43 off 24 balls) and Ajinkya Rahane (25 off 24) opened, putting on 60 for the first wicket. Nitish Rana added 43 off 26 balls before becoming Bumrah's second victim.

Tasmanian Riley Meredith was expensive, going wicketless for 35 from his three overs.

Mumbai's reply was built around Ishan Kishan's 51 as wickets fell around him including Tim David for 13. But Kishan fell first ball after Cummins' re-introduction in the 14th over as Mumbai went from 4-100 to 7-102. The increasingly chaotic innings concluded with three run-outs in four balls.

Mumbai remain bottom with a 2-9 record, their mini-revival halted while KKR are in seventh (5-7), still in the hunt for a playoff berth.
