King into final despite Supernovas loss

3 minute read

The Supernovas team of Australia's Alana King has booked a place in the final of the Women's T20 Challenge in India despite losing to Velocity.

A tight spell of bowling from Australian leg-spinner Alana King has not been enough to secure victory in the Women's T20 Challenge for Supernovas, but has helped book a place in Saturday's final.

King conceded just 20 runs off her four overs, the most miserly bowling of Tuesday's match, but defending 5-150 was too much to ask for the Supernovas' attack.

However, while Velocity reached their target with seven wickets and ten balls to spare, Supernovas remain ahead of them on net run rate in the three team, four match tournament.

With one match of the group stage left Supernovas are guaranteed a place in the final, against either Velocity, or Trailblazers, who King's team beat on Monday.

Supernovas had been reduced to 3-18, largely by the pace bowling of England's Kate Cross (2-24). Harmanpreet Kaur's 71 took them to a respectable score, but on the same Pune ground they had made 163 on Monday.

Shafaki Verma and Laura Wolvaardt each made 51 as Velocity chased down the target despite Deandra Dottin's 2-21.

Think. Is this a bet you really want to place?
