Stars align for Kim Garth in WBBL

3 minute read

Ireland international and reigning Melbourne Stars player of the season Kim Garth has re-signed with the WBBL club for a further three seasons.

Kim Garth has signed a new three-year deal with the Melbourne Stars in a boost for the club's chances of securing a long-awaited WBBL title.

Garth enjoyed a breakout campaign with bat and ball last summer, named the Stars' player of the season.

She sat inside the competition's top-10 wicket-takers and averaged 27 with the bat at a strike rate of 106.

The Ireland international, who has represented her country 51 times in T20 cricket, relocated to Australia in 2020 after she was awarded a contract with Victoria.

"I'm loving my time in Melbourne and I can't wait for the next three seasons with the Melbourne Stars," Garth said.

"I haven't been home (to Ireland) for over two years so it has been great to get back in the off-season but I'm looking forward to getting back and putting in a solid block of work before the start of the season."

Stars general manager Blair Crouch welcomed Garth's commitment.

"Her energy on and off the field is infectious and her impact on the group in a short time has been profound," Crouch said.

"Kim has worked extremely hard on her game over the last couple of seasons and her improvement with both bat and ball is a credit to that hard work."

The Stars signed Englishman Jonathan Batty earlier this month as their fourth coach in as many seasons.
