SRI LANKA V AUSTRALIA, FIRST TEST, DAY THREE:
Score: Australia (364) trail Sri Lanka (6-431) by 67 runs.
SUMMARY: Sri Lanka took control of the match by batting through the day for the loss of just four wickets. Kusal Mendis fell early for 85 but from there Dinesh Chandimal (118no) shared in an 83-run partnership with Angelo Mathews (52) and a 137-run stand with debutant Kaminu Mendis (61). Alex Carey and Australia missed three stumping chances, while they ran out of reviews early and cost themselves two wickets in the process, including Chandimal on 31.
MAN OF THE MOMENT: Dinesh Chandimal. At times criticised for inconsistency, he held Sri Lanka's innings together with a fine 118no and has given the hosts hope of drawing the series 1-1 after their horror start in the first Test.
KEY MOMENT: Australia's inability to be able to review a Dinesh Chandimal caught behind off Mitchell Starc. Replays showed Chandimal had edged the ball attempting to cut, but by that point Australia had blown all three of their allocated referrals and could only watch replays in frustration.
STAT OF THE DAY: No team from outside Asia has ever overturned a first-innings lead of greater than 50 to come back and win in Sri Lanka. That is the task that now awaits Australia.
