Cameron Munster says whether or not he's picked for Queensland on Monday, Selwyn Cobbo has a big future, likening him to former Maroons great Greg Inglis.
Reluctant to add to the pressure on Selwyn Cobbo, Cameron Munster sees shades of another Queensland Origin great in the teenage winger.
The 19-year-old Brisbane flyer has set the NRL alight this season to push his claims for an Origin debut when the Maroons team is announced on Monday for State of Origin I in Sydney.
He scored the Broncos' first try in their 35-24 win over Gold Coast on Friday night to bring his season tally to nine.
Munster is a big fan of his Melbourne teammate Xavier Coates to retain one wing spot but sees a big future for Cobbo.
He says Cobbo shares many qualities with Greg Inglis, who Munster played with at the Storm and Queensland.
"He's a freak and he's playing with absolute confidence," the Queensland five-eighth said.
"I don't like obviously comparing him to certain players but he's got a lot of GI (Greg Inglis) similarities - left hand carry, strong fend, very elusive and very fast.
"He doesn't shy away from the tough stuff and when you see someone like that not only doing the flashy stuff, he's also doing the tough stuff, I'm sure he's caught the eyes of the selectors for Queensland."
Munster has a special relationship with new Maroons coach Billy Slater, who is a former teammate, while the fullback great is a regular at Melbourne training.
The star playmaker felt Slater was taking over the Origin team at a fortunate time with the top Queensland sides all firing - North Queensland and Brisbane are both in the top four.
"Last year looking at the team we were probably struggling a little bit on form, but this year you've got the Cowboys and Broncos going well and some good young talent coming through from Titans," Munster said.
"It's been a tough couple of years with Queensland teams but this year they've hit the ground running so it's good to have the competition (for spots).
"They're putting a lot of heat on Billy to make a decision."
