2nd: Best Of Bordeaux (K Fogden/S Clipperton) - $11
3rd: Coolangatta (C Maher & D Eustace/J McDonald) - $3.70F
Winning Time: 1:12.79 Last 600m: 36.37

Winning Trainer: Gary Portelli
Thought his two horses couldn’t win at top of straight: “And then you could see her building and going through her revs, what a finish. Unbelievable. Rebel Dane, who’d have thought he would throw a Golden Slipper winner?”
To the owners: “Congratulations to (managing owner) Louis Mihalyka and the team. I am forever thankful to them for giving me Rebel Dane to start with and then a daughter of his and it just continued the great story.”
On the filly: “She has been the biggest improver in the stable that I’ve ever seen. I said this week, she has peaked so well. This morning, I had to go and work her. I was going to give her an easy day but she was too fresh, so I had to go and give her some work and she has turned up here and smashed them.
“She is the best two-year-old in Australia right now and I’ve got no doubt she will be the best three-year-old next year.”
On the ride by Brenton Avdulla: “He has gone to a new level. Sometimes you have an injury and he’s had a situation where he has probably looked at his career and he’s potentially had his lifestyle taken away from him and they come back and realise what they’ve got.”
“It’s the greatest sport. It’s the highs and lows, you’ve got to put up with the lows and hope the highs come back and here he has come back from a serious injury and won two Group Ones in a month, so it just goes to show, don’t give up.”
Feeling of winning a Slipper: “I can’t put much above it, that’s for sure.”
Winning Jockey: Brenton Avdulla
On being injured and the win: “No it’s crazy. I said to the Mrs I wouldn’t cry after the first week but it’s very special obviously.”
“It’s hard to get rides any time of the year but when you’re off a setback and trying to get the weight under control.”
“Gary gave me plenty of faith with his support all my career and him and his connections put me on her. She gave me a great feel Tuesday. ”
“To come out and win a Slipper again, I thought it was going to be hard to get one but now I’ve got two in three years.
On the running of the race: “Very happy early. They went along for a furlong and I just couldn’t hold a spot. I was trying to keep Brett (Pebble) out but I was just going to be burning, so I was just happy to let her come back and let him hopefully crash tackle a few of them for me.”
“Once we got out of the shoot there was a real shuffle up and it felt like the speed came out of the race and I almost sold out and lost plenty of momentum and ended up back second last. From the 500m onwards I just thought ‘I can’t win the race, I’m just gonna get a couple and earn some prizemoney.
“Once I straightened up and got balanced and started to pick them off one-by-one, I got to the 200m thinking ‘this thing is going to win’.”
“I knew I was home at the furlong, I just had to get out.”
Beaten Jockeys:
Mark Zahra (Daumier): “A little trier. Ran really well. Did a good job to run fourth.”
Jason Collett (Sejardan): “Just got smashed.”
Sam Clipperton (Best Of Bordeaux): “Very frustrating yet very proud. He’s done a wonderful job this preparation. He’s going to run 1400m this horse when he grows into himself. Going to be a lovely 3yo. Must say congratulations to Kacy Fogden. She’s done a brilliant job with this horse.”
Hugh Bowman (Jacquinot): “Had a lovely run in transit. Didn’t appreciate that heavy track.”
William Pike (Sebonack): “A long way back.”
Tim Clark (Rise Of The Masses): “I had a pretty torrid run. I couldn’t go with the speed early. He’s done a good job.”
James McDonald (Coolangatta): “Really sad. She tried her heart out. Got into a beautiful spot. Let down but the ground got her. A terrific filly and really proud of her.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Revolutionary Miss): “Ran a good race. Was posted wide so came back to get some cover. Didn’t have a lot of room. She ran a great race.”
Tommy Berry (Russian Conquest): “The ground hurt her.”
Regan Bayliss (Ojai): “We found ourself on the fence, for her to run fifth in the race was excellent.”
Josh Parr (Seven Veils): “Just had to do that little bit of work to find the spot from the gate. It softened us late. Still immature but she will make a lovely filly.”
Linda Meech (Lady Laguna): “It was too much for her.”
Brett Prebble (She's Extreme): “Ran super. She got left a little flat footed. She’s a really good filly.”
Nash Rawiller (Sweet Ride): “My horse ran really well. There was good speed in a hot race.”
