On the ride: “It was lovely. He got into a great spot. He hasn’t ridden him for a while and the horse has a few little quirks about him but his last three runs have been outstanding, good weight for age type form.
“Really this was a race that was made for him.
“The gate was the key thing for him, to get him out and get him into the right position and the right part of the track in the straight.”
On the horse: “He’s been around for a while, he’s been a great servant for us.
“He never puts in a bad run. It’s nice to win.”
Winning Jockey: James McDonald
On the win: “Great performance. He really delivered. Strong through the line.
“He’s just racing so well.”
On the horse: “He’s been an excellent horse for so many years. He’s been racing in career best form so far at weight for age against tough horses.
“Then to come here and do it with 59 kilos, it’s a credit to the horse and the way he’s kept going throughout his career.”
On the track: “The track is in outstanding order, I don’t think I’ve ridden on such a good surface for a fair while so they’ve done a marvellous job in preparing it.
“It looks sensational, it’s riding sensational and a credit to all the team here.”
Beaten Jockeys:
Tommy Berry (Abdon): “He had a bee in his bonnet today.”
Jason Collett (Le Juge): “He travelled pretty strong then he got left when they sprinted.”
Glen Boss (The Lord Mayor): “He ran terrific. He’s back in form.”
Kerrin McEvoy (Chapada): “He had to stride a little bit to the first corner to get across - that cost him and it told in the last furlong.”
Christian Reith (Master Of Arts): “He was tardy out of the gates and the race was over for him from then on.”
Andrew Adkins (The Candy Man): “He ran a lot better race today. I think he’s better coming off the heels of something. The way the race panned out I had to just let him roll and sit outside the leader which didn’t suit him but it was a lot better run.”
Leigh Roche (Antilles): “He went steady throughout the race then it turned into a sprint and it didn’t suit him.”
Rachel King (Emperor's Way): “A pretty good, solid run. They just out-sprinted him from the turn but he stuck on pretty well from then.”
James Innes Jnr (Harper's Choice): “Disappointing. With the big weight drop we let him roll forward to establish the lead. I thought our sectionals were nice enough for him to show a kick. Not good enough today.”
Robbie Dolan (Morton's Fork): “Terrific run. There was so much speed early in the race he was struggling to hold a position. He steadied midrace. They sprinted then from the bottom bend but he really hit the line strong.”
Kathy O'Hara (Another Dollar): “A terrific run today. With that run under the belt she will be a lot better next time. Today she was just beaten by a more seasoned campaigner but it was a really good effort.
Jay Ford (Dealmaker): “Most disappointing, he never travelled a yard. I was niggling at him from back last the whole way around and when they quickened that was the end of him.”
