On using Kerrin McEvoy: “We were so glad to get him, a quality rider like Kerrin”.

On her form: “To be fair, even though she ran third last the other day he was keen to stick with her. He’s backed his judgment and it paid off. Alex, my foreman who works tirelessly, a lot of it is due to her work.”

On winning this race: “It’s really exciting to win a nice race like this. We’ve been bullish on the mare and she has come here today and raced accordingly. It’s a tremendous group of people (involved) so I’m just so happy for them.”

Winning Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy

On the win: “She’s a big strong mare and a quality mare in her own right. The last run didn’t really go to plan, it was a quickly run race in heavy ground and we got back and she actually dipped quite badly a couple of times.

“I said to John ‘just put a complete line through that’.

“She won a couple of nice races over seven furlongs last time in and gave me a good feel in doing it so I was confident to just switch her off early.

“I switched her off as best I could, she travelled quite keen a couple of times but at the top of the lane she was full of running and well played to John and the team.

On the race: “They backed it right off and I went from eighth in the three wide line with a bit cover and ended up fifth or six through doing no work so I was happy enough where I was straightening up. That head on wind is blowing them around in the straight but she is a big strong girl and was powerful to the line.”

Blake Shinn (Forbidden Love): “She was a little bit disappointing. Had a good run but didn’t finish off.”

Regan Bayliss (Nimalee): “Another courageous effort. Just hasn’t drawn a barrier in a while. When she can draw a barrier like the Queen Of The Turf when you can put her to sleep from a good marble you’ll see an even better race mare.”

Tom Sherry (Icebath): “Race was over from the gates. She ran well.”

Hugh Bowman (Electric Girl): “She went really well. Full credit to the winner but with a bit more luck I might have won it myself.”

Keagan Latham (Swats That): “I think she just struggled to get the 1400m. I would have loved to have ridden her quieter but Just a victim of circumstances.”

Josh Parr (Expat): “She ran an honest race today.”

Will Price (Barb Raider): “Disappointing run in transit. Had no luck.”

Sam Clipperton (Belle Plaisir): “She has gone terrific. Didn’t handle the shuffle up when the pace came out of the race. Hit the line strongly and is in great form.”

Brenton Avdulla (Espiona): “Was disappointing at face value. Didn’t handle the mid-stages. She’s just a bit quirky. Has got good ability but still has something.”

Jason Collett (Never Talk): “She was good late. Was in a bit of a mood at the start and didn’t want to take part early.”

William Pike (Sheeza Belter): “She was OK. I couldn’t really get a clear crack at them. See how she does in the next one.”
