On coming up to Brisbane: “I’ve just come up to see how things are going up here and have a look at the track. There's a lot of talk about the track at the moment so seeing it firsthand is the best thing and getting some of these exciting young horses on some better tracks is certainly what we're looking forward to. It's been a really testing autumn back at home and we’ll learn a lot in the next few weeks.”

The weather in Sydney has been awful hasn’t it? “Yeah, that's a good way of putting it. There are other ways of putting it. It's just been awful for a long time as well. These horses, they need good ground to run at their best and we’ll see different form lines come up from New South Wales and hopefully ours are shining.”

Thoughts on Kir Royale and Minsk Moment: “She is still learning her trade. She was a bit keen and Minsk Moment, we will talk to Jim (Byrne) and see what he suggests and where he fits in to some of the better races.”

Has he looked at the track? “I have and you can see that it's making good progress. I was lucky enough to walk it with Jim Roberts and Matt Rudolph and they explained the process they're going through and I think looking forward, there is definitely something to look forward to. I think it's better than it was when I was last here which was in the winter. I think the horses will be more comfortable when we get dry spells. That's the key - it was too firm. I think there's other ideas about other tracks to trial. I think we've got back Jim Roberts is a very talented curator. He does a wonderful job at Doomben and knows the conditions and what we're dealing with. I'm looking forward to talking to these jockeys and I just want to continue to hear them say that it's making progress.”

Winning Jockey: Jim Byrne

Thoughts in run: It was a little bit at the top of the straight. I thought Release The Beans would let down a little bit better because he had a soft run and ended up having to get on the stablemates back. I thought they’d open up a little bit more than they did and unfortunately they didn't so I just had to jockey my way through.

Will stepping up in trip suit: You would think that because he really attacked the line strong. Probably what assisted us was being held up that little bit and looking for that sort of room. I think that really assisted him.
