Winning Trainer: Annabel Neasham (rep by Raphael Machelli)

“He is bred for the sprints but when you have a look at him, physically he looks more like a stayer.

“He had good form and his last work was good, too. We were just a bit worried about the soft side of the track.

“But Brodie rode a perfect race.”

On him: “I’m French, and my grandfather was Italian. Annabel was trying to find a work rider and I kept in touch with her and we have a good relationship after two years. I don’t ride anymore because I hurt my back.”

Winning Jockey: Brodie Loy

“Bit soft out there which Brodie loves. He’s won his last two on the synthetic but I was a little bit worried when I saw the horses in the last couple of races with the kickback.

“He just relaxed so beautifully today and I was a bit worried about too overdoing it but he relaxed lovely in my hands and I knew he’d have a nice turn-of-foot. We got a beautiful cart from Jaden (Accessory) and we got there in the end.

“His last two starts he wanted to overdo it midrace and a bit early. But today I drew barrier one and got cover straight away then he just melted in my hands which was lovely.

“When he relaxed so nicely and we got a beautiful cart I knew he’d be strong late.”

Better races ahead: “I hope so. He’s still got a bit of maturing to do and that’s the first time he’s relaxed and done things right so he’s won here today in a provincial race but he can come here on a Saturday next prep and I’m sure he’ll be a nice stayer.”
