Winning Trainer: Steven O’Dea & Matthew Hoysted

“Bit of pressure off us now with him being back. We put it all before him last preparation and now he was first-up over the 1200 (metres) today so he was going to be vulnerable but today he was really able to show his class.

“Definitely well above average, wasn’t he.”

Owned by wife and in-law: “Sure was (pressure). Would have been an awkward dinner tonight if he got beat.

“Very proud of him and very proud of the whole team. It has been a big job getting him back and we haven’t had an issue with him with the hock so hopefully that continues to be the case and we can see him continue to climb the ladder.”

Next: “In two weeks there’s the Darby McCarthy and if he was able to win again there, we might think about sneaking down to Melbourne in the early spring for a couple of listed races.”

Winning Jockey: Ben Thompson

“He’s a jockey’s dream. He’s still learning his trade. A big effort by the whole team - Matt Hoysted and Steven O’Dea - they’ve really had to nurse him along and they’ve been patient. Just over twelve months to the day - his third start and second win.

“Worth the wait and I’m sure there’s better things to come.

“I was worried when Tramonto started to play up. He was alert and when I went onto the track he was ready to roll. He jumped away well and just have him a really sweet ride with the tempo out it was pretty easy for us frontrunners.

“Safework rated in front but I was going to cut the corner and come out to what feels like better ground. Just a good effort against seasoned and older horses. Even a horse like Safework who won over 1350 (metres), it just shows how well he was today and to run out a strong six furlongs like that, very proud of him and I look forward to seeing what the future is like for him.”
