Winning Trainer: Mike Moroney (rep by Jack Turnbull)

“He was (too good) today. The rise in distance was a plus and we got the soft ground today. Everything just lined up.

“He relishes that rain affected ground and we felt that after three conditioning runs that he was ready to go over a mile-and-a-half.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Poy

His thoughts coming to the home turn: “I was confident. We have beaten Busuttin’s horse (Inverloch) at Sandown prior, Teo Nugent rode it there. We had a better turn-of-foot than it and got a great run into the race.

“We just had a bit nicer run than the eventual second-placegetter we had to chase down. With the swing in the weights going our way it was always going to be hard for it to outsprint us.”

Natalie Young on Inverloch: “Just weakened in the end carrying 4.5kgs to the winner. It was a tough run down the back with the headwind, very taxing. While we’re racing, he’ll back up next Saturday over 2000m.”
