On the horse’s erratic winning record: “At home we’ve started calling him I’m Teasing Ya. He looms up, runs the quickest times of the race every week but just can’t quite get there. He’s as honest as anything but we’re just so thrilled for him to break through after such a long time.

“I thought Dean rode him beautifully. He just timed his run to perfection. I didn’t think he was travelling that well coming to the turn. He really had to scoot to tack on and keep in touch with them but we know he’s got such an electric turn-of-foot. He hit the line so hard.

“We love him. He’s the nicest horse. He’s a pleasure to have around. I paid $20,000 for him as a yearling and we’ve had him the whole way through. We just love him. He’s a gentleman, my little boy Tommy can lead him around. We bought a pack of licorice for him to have after today. He could only have it if he won so we’d better keen our part of the bargain.”

“He’s just a lovely, dear horse to have around so it’s nice that he’s finally broken through again.”

Phillip Stokes on Too Good Too Hard: “I said before the race that she’ll probably need the run. She carried the winner into the race and will probably have another run in Melbourne before heading to Adelaide. She’ll strip a lot fitter.”

Winning Jockey: Dean Yendall

On the win: “He won really well. On exposed form there didn’t look to be a heap of genuine speed but as it panned out they went at a good, solid tempo so I wasn’t too concerned to be at the back where I was and following the right horses.”

On the horse: “I really like the way he hit the line today. It was a good run at Caulfield last start when he drew the car park. He got into a nice enough spot midfield around there but obviously a bigger field so it made my job a little more difficult but he didn’t finish that far off some handy horses.

“Today he came in with good form. Obviously he doesn’t win out of turn but it was his turn today. You take it while you can.”
