Winning Trainer: Trent Busuttin & Natalie Young (rep by Brendon Hawtin)

On whether Hawtin thought that Chuck A Luck had got the bob in: “No, I thought the outside horse had got up right on the line. We got the right call and it was a courageous win.”

“This horse ran sixth in Catalyst’s 2000 Guineas so he had a bit of form behind him. He ran well first up at Sandown and obviously had been working really well into today. He raced accordingly and it was a beautiful ride by Jye to tough it out and get the win.

“Looking forward to the future with this horse.”

Additional from Hawtin: “He’s got a good motor and it was good to see him tough it out. It was a good ride from a good gate and probably saved 1½ lengths by cutting back to the fence.

“Had every right to knock up on the return run and Australian debut, and still have gone well but went even better.

<Indicated that a path to the South Australian Derby was a possibility but that would be confirmed by Trent and Natalie>

Winning Jockey: Jye McNeil

On the win: “The runner up levelled up outside us like it was going to go straight past us. My horse showed a great will to win and was very tough in the final stages.”

On the run: “I thought in the early stages the speed probably wasn’t that strong but there was a number of horses pushing forward. I didn’t want to get mixed up in that so I just elected to give up my position a little bit.

“Thankfully I had a smooth run up the inside and he accelerated really well for me. As I touched on earlier he was really tough in the finish.”

On his future: “He seems a progressive type. Obviously my first ride on him so I don’t know him overly well but they told me pre-race he had been working really well and going the right way.

“Hopefully he can progress with this, it will give him great confidence and I’m sure he can take a step up in trip as well.”
