Winning Trainer: Mat Ellerton & Simon Zahra (Simon speaking)

“I didn’t think he to there (in the photo) but he really hit the line well. They were really runner from the word ‘go’ and he really appreciates that. He just tucks the head down and he’s got a better finish the quicker they go up in front.

“I was having a look at the splits and they were breaking 11 in the last 400 and 200. Credit to the horse, he’s really come of age and really appreciating the new style of training - out of the stable a little bit and back in. There’s another race in a couple of weeks and we’ll probably head that way. Hopefully the handicapper doesn’t catch up with him.”

Winning Jockey: Jamie Kah

Jamie thought she had been beaten on the line: “It’s hard when they’re that far away on the inside. If he had been beaten then it would’ve been his fault. He was given a lot of weight since his last win and did a super effort today.

“His manners this time are so much better.”

Sam Freedman on second-placed King Of Hastings: “He was good. He’s not really a 1000 metre horse, more 1200 or 1400. We’ll probably head towards the Creswick  over 1200m - might have a run in between or a jump out.”
