Winning Trainer: Phillip Stokes (on phone)

“So reliable and he never runs a bad race. There is improvement to come, too. He was a bit fresh today.

“I think we can stretch him out to 1400 metres now and we’ll keep placing him in the right races. He’ll win his share.

“I was happy to give Ben Allen the ride on him as he’s done a lot of work on him. He is nearly unbeaten on him.”

Winning Jockey: Ben Allen

On the hair: “We’ve been in isolation. I gave it a bit of a cut myself and didn’t think it was too bad and then my sister gave it a trim up, so it’s looking alright for a bloke that hasn’t had a haircut for a while.”

Not many opportunities: “It’s tough especially with COVID as riders are staying put and not going on holidays. I’m trying to work as hard as I can and a big thanks to Phillip Stokes and the connections of this horse. I haven’t ridden him for a few starts but it’s good to get back on him and I think that’s my sixth win on him.

“He’s a tough horse. Speaking to Phil, it was our plan to break clean and let the race sort out from there. He jumped a couple lengths quick but they kicked up quite quickly but I was happy to let the race fall out the way it did and it ended up working out all right.”

On where riding: “I’ll ride pretty much much wherever the rides are. I went up to Benalla today and then I’ve come back here to win on this bloke. You’ve got to do what you can.”

Where rides trackwork: “A bit everywhere, but mainly Cranbourne and Ballarat and jumpouts where anyone wants me.”
