Winning Trainer: Henry Dwyer (rep by Matt Jenkins)

“He’s just doing everything on raw ability. I begged Henry before he had his first start to put blinkers on him - I just thought he’d get run off his feet and lost. Henry bit the bullet and held out but whatever he is doing now he’s just going to be better for it.

What’s next: “I don’t know. It’s a tough one. I suppose we just pick off those three-year-old races until the season is out but it is just good for the Heffernan family to have another good horse. They can find a good one and he looks like he might be alright.

On looking towards the spring: “That’s always an option if we gave him a freshen up. It’s a good problem to have.”

Winning Jockey: Michael Poy

“He’s a very progressive horse. They haven’t really been winning on the fence, they wanted to get off, and I also wanted to. But it was the same as last time, he wanted to dart in and when he darted in I thought I’d better let him be there and riding him out with the rail there. He likes to follow it.

“He won his maiden at Wodonga and was luckless two starts back. Credit to Jake Duffy. He said he was a smart galloper and he was proven right. I won on him last start beating a handy horse and he’s come here to Saturday grade and put them away. He’ll only be better over a mile.

On seeing out the season continuing with winners: “I think this was the fourteenth meeting left of the season. Just got to keep working hard and it keeps coming.
