Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace (Ciaron speaking)

“Great job by the team. The owners had to be patient. We were nearly ready to go in the spring and her blood wasn’t quite right. We just had to wait and she’s been in work for a fair while so she was fit going into this.

“I was toying between the six or seven furlongs to kick her off but we made the right choice.

“Johnny Allen, he does a lot for the stable, it was a great ride. Brad Spicer and all the owners, they’re big supporters so a great win.”

What’s next: “She’ll go to the Magic Millions, I reckon. There’s a mares race for her so that’s where she’ll go. She doesn’t need to race too much, we’ve already got a plan for her. She’ll go to the Sydney stable and get up to Brisbane and acclimatise herself. Hopefully she can get the coin on the Gold Coast, everyone can be there and have a good time.”

Winning Jockey: John Allen

“It was a good win. The speed was gentle enough for a big field. Just kept her a bit comfortable, sat a bit wide. She was too good for them.

“She’s always had plenty of ability. She didn’t have much racing so hopefully she can progress with it now.”

** MOONEE VALLEY NEXT SATURDAY **

Tom Dabernig on Nicolini Vito: “He’s started the prep off well with two win and we’ll go to Moonee Valley for the McKenzie Stakes at listed level. Now that he’s had the win at The Valley hopefully we can get a bit of black type for the connections.

“He seems to be going well. I’m not sure how far we’ll go into the Christmas period but he’s doing everything right.

“I thought the other day he found himself in a bit of an awkward spot but he was able to win. We’ll give him a crack at black type.

Opportune that those listed races have been scheduled on Saturday: “Yes, especially now that the carnival has finished. For these horses that are at the back end of it, it is perfect really. The owners are breeders so it’d be good if we could get black type with him.”
