Winning Trainer: Lindsey Smith (rep by Shane Jackson)

“I’m thrilled for Chris. That was a very competent ride. Great to have him on board and claiming the kilo and a half off, he gave her a super ride.

“She pinged the gates and controlled the race. He pushed the button at the right time. She was looking for the line and got the job done.

What’s next: “She doesn’t go on soft or heavy tracks so that’s about as soft as she wants it. We just have to keep that in mind and keep her on the good ground. She was up in grade here so she could run in something similar again. She what the handicapper does with her. She’s a very sound mare so she’ll pull up well and back to the drawing board.”

On giving Chris Castera the opportunity: “He’s had a few hiccups along the way but he’s a great kid and hard worker. He comes down to us every Wednesday. He doesn’t just tap in and stick on a boot, he does a morning’s work and does jump outs for us. He’s a very accomplished rider and that kilo and a half is good value in town.”

Winning Jockey: Chris Caserta

Bought his first house this week and started paying it off well: “Bloody oath. Lindsey and his team are giving me a good go. I can’t thank them enough and hopefully I’ve got one on the board and another one coming up.

On getting their stable and riding plenty of work: “It’s a must these days. It’s great that I go down there once a week and do the work. They’re repaying me with the rides and I’m just glad to be getting the job done for them.”

<Chris couldn’t recall his last winner at Flemington.>
