“He’s been with us since December and we’ve taken our time with him. We had confidence that he’d run well but you can never tell how they’ll adapt. Some of these European horses take their time to adapt to our racing and others get straight into it. He’s got straight into it.

“He’s the right type of horse to come through the back door to better races. We’ll just keep placing him through the grades.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Thornton

“He was really good today. He trialled up nicely enough to be competitive in this. His work Tuesday morning was one of his best so far. He kept improving to raceday. He’s always given me the feeling that he’d be a nice horse.

“To do that first-up over a mile is pretty pleasing.”

“He’s got to get his rating up (before aiming for better races) but the way he won today with that turn-of-foot there’s no reason why he can’t progress towards that way and see where he ends up.”

On the track: “Perfect. It’s a long time since I rode on a good track so it’s nice to be back on one.”
