“She’s a filly that’s kept improving. The race changed a bit when the speed (Altai Ranger) bombed the start, but she jumped better today second-up and put herself right up on the speed and made the necessary improvement.

“She’s matured. She’s not the biggest filly but she’s big enough and hopefully she can go on a little bit. I don’t think we’ve got any lofty ambitions with her but she’s fit and she’s well and she’s coping. We’ll keep going forward with her.”

By So You Think, can she get further: “I don’t think so. She may well run 1400 or 1600 but that’d be about her, I’d imagine.”

Winning Jockey: Daniel Moor

“I noticed Altai Ranger was a little bit agitated in the gates and it’s got a bit of that nature about it so we had to render that into play when it was slow away. Buona Sera got there easily and ducked it off to his liking. My filly didn’t like it early doors but to her credit got her head down and got into a good rhythm thereafter.

“It’s quite unique today, we’ve got a cutaway rail. It presents, especially in that race with young horses, wide open space without a rail to follow, so to speak. Dwayne (Dunn) and I were having a chat on pulling up that both of our horses had a bit of a look around and until they say the winning post they didn’t know when to knuckle down. There’s a lot of merit in the win today.

Further thoughts on the horse: “I mentioned to Simon and Matty that I thought she was progressive. She did a good job at Geelong, albeit with a couple of unlucky horses (in that race), but the form was franked during the week with Blondeau winning at Geelong well there. She’s very progressive. She’s still got to work on her mind a bit but she couldn’t have done much more than win today.

On the track: “Obviously it’s had a bit of racing, Sandown and it’s showing a bit of wear. It’s a good workhorse and it’s holding up well.”
