Winning Trainer: Patrick Caboche (comments sought separately as no TV interview to this stage)

“I am (happy with the run). I haven’t had the horse for a long time but I’ve been training for 35 years and this is my first metro winner.”

How Beautiful Flyer came to his stable: “A friend of mine gave it to me (Gary Milroy) because I think that he wanted all of his horses to come to Victoria. That’s how I got it.”

“I’m a hobby trainer. In the last nine or ten months, because I’m retired from my day job, a friend of mine decided that we’d get some more horses so that's how I’ve sort of gone ‘professional’.

<Patrick’s ‘day job’ was a technician with Ericsson>

On the horse and getting any further than 1300m: “On the way it looks there, it doesn’t look like it. Might be just as 1200 or 1300m horse.”

“We’ve just got to win black type with it because - as a seven-year-old mare - hopefully we can do that and send her to stud.”

Winning Jockey: Brad Rawiller

“It’s a little bit frustrating, it’s such a great day Golden Mile Day, and the Bendigo community get right behind it and what a great day we have got. It’s a shame that we haven’t got any people here to enjoy what is a great day’s racing, full fields all day.”

“I’m really rapt that I could get this winner. The owner Brad got on to me yesterday and filled me in on how she needed to be ridden. It was awkward three wide with no cover but she just got into a beautiful rhythm and was tough late. Well placed.”

“I’m glad I have got his chance to be able to say to everyone involved in the industry; massive well done to Racing Victoria who have put in place very strict protocols for us to be able to continue and everyone in the industry is adhering to those rules and we are giving the Government great confidence going forward. Rapt to be able to come out today under difficult times and get a great winner.”

From Robbie Griffiths on unplaced Villa Sarchi: “Very happy. Disappointed he didn’t win but got dragged too far back. Next run will be at Caulfield next Saturday over 1400m.”
