Almost like we transferred the last 600m of Traralgon and transferred it to the 1100m at Flemington: “That’s what we like about him. He’s got good gate speed, he can go at a quick tempo and then find again. He’s got a really big action, he’s light on his feet. He’s a really two-year-old.

“Credit to Jeremey Rogers. He found the horse at the Classic Sale for Roll The Dice. We love training for them and they have a really nice colt.”

Any other Capitalist’s at Caulfield: “We’ve got one more, but not as good as this horse. He’s pretty smart.”

Going forward: “He’s an Inglis horse, so the obvious one is do you go to the Millennium, which is worth $2 million in February, or do you have a go at the Blue Diamond. We’ll get back and talk to the boss Mick Price and the owners on Monday morning.

“He can only improve that horse. He’s had a light prep. It’s very exciting for everyone involved.”

On the ride: “It was perfect. He said to me pre-race that he wanted to roll in the first bit, so he relaxes, and he relaxed beautifully. Mick’s done all the work on this horse, he was keen early days on getting him to relax and travelled so sweetly and Ben Wade, who strapped him today, he’s a great trackrider, he’s done a great job with the horse, and the way he travelled and then exploded was really exciting.”

On how he stacks up to other two-year-olds in stable: “He’s in the top three at this stage. Whether he will be the best horse in time, time will tell, but he’s definitely the most precocious.”

Compare Profiteer to other two-year-olds ridden: “He’s a natural, got a lot of natural speed. Today was just a matter of getting him to relax. We led, we rolled along, but he was comfortable and that was the key with him today. He was able run right through the line.”

Come on from Traralgon trial: “Absolutely. I’ve jumped him out a couple of times and had a few gallops on him and he’s just improved each time he's done a bit of fast work and trialled. I still think there is improvement to come with him.”
