“A very rewarding win. The Jacksons (owners), I’ve been telling them that she’s been going better than she looked. She’s going to the broodmare sale on the Gold Coast and I said ‘let’s roll the dice one more time’ and it’s paid off.

“She’s had niggling feet problems and we’ve kept her fresh. She’s doing well at Pakenham. It’s a special win, our 100th win for the season.”

“I was introduced to her as a three-year-old and she competed here at the start of the spring and got beaten by a really nice horse of Kris Lees’ that came down here. I thought we were in for big things with her. I thought she might’ve been a potential Thousand Guineas horse but once she started stepping out in distance she is a very aggressive horse. She was trying to get it over and done with too much. Also on the firmer tracks she started to hang out.

“I partnered her at the end of her three-year-old season and she won a Group 2 in Adelaide. I was really keen to look at riding her today and away from apprentice claiming so my manager got in touch and we got the ride.

“She’s off to the Magic Millions sales but she’s still got more racing in her.”

“It didn’t feel like there was any loafing. We were in the pressure cooker of the race and she had to stand up. My discussion with Phillip before the race was that we thought that was her strength, we didn’t want to be mechanical on her and to be strong and dominant. It worked out really well.”
