Winning Trainer: Chris Waller (rep by Jo Taylor)

“I thought he went terrific first-up. The 1400 metres was a bit too sharp for him so coming to the mile today, we gave him a soft little jump out last week to bring him on as well and Damien Thornton aboard who knows our horses extremely well, I thought he produced a good ride.

“He seemed to have one come onto his lap early in the race and I think that forced him wide where Damien didn’t want to be. But he had cover and gave him as economical run as you can being out that wide.

“Knowing the horse as he does he produced him at the right time and he knew he would give a great effort to the line.

“He’s (the horse) been such a nice progressive horse as we even saw in his first preparation and taking it one step at a time. As he improves through the grades there’s no reason why he can’t continue to produce good results for the owners.”

Winning Jockey: Damien Thornton

“I’d much rather be midfield, three-wide with cover than out the back with too much to do. He jumped well. There was a bit of hustle and bustle early so I had one come back in my lap. I thought we were in a bit of trouble there for the first part of the race but he travelled really well after that.

“I knew I was travelling well but I knew I wasn’t going to find much so I had to time it a little bit and he was really good late.

“I’ve had enough experience over the last six months or more with the Waller stable that I know their system, I know how they like their horses ridden and I know what they do with them. I was confident coming here today that he could go well.”
