Winning Trainer: David & Coral Feek (Coral speaking)

“That’s our first metro winner in Melbourne. We’ve come close in recent weeks but really good to get that first one.

“We’ve been up to Sydney three times and got the money so that’s been good but it’s really good to get one in our hometown.

“She’s come back this time on the job, really up for it and she’s been completely straightforward. The jump outs were good and her first win was easy. She should have won last start and her last 50 metres was incredible.

“So we thought she’d earned her place to come here. It was a step up in grade but she’s come out of the last race really well and there was not reason not to try.”

“We have 20 in work. Pretty busy. It’s good.

David says she makes the decisions: “That’s the way it should be.”

“I just like to say that this horse was bred by Loiuse Mancinelli and her family. Had a close association with her brother Troy who died of cancer last year. So this is a really special win for them. So excited.”

Winning Jockey: Brett Prebble

“I was really keen to ride her. She was tough to get there and she’s come out of some of those runs a bit unlucky. She didn’t really exert herself so she had that excess energy for today.

“She showed that she wanted it. She came off the favourite’s back and really tried hard and really determined to win it.

“She’s only ‘this’ big and she was really putting her neck out and having a crack.

Pleased to learn of the Feek’s first metro win: “Oh! I’ve had one other ride for them and that horse has come out and won since. David has tried to give me a leg up and it’s nice to get a winner for him.”

On Jamie Kah: “I’m glad it has happened for her. There was a lot of pressure on her and she’s only young. She’s got a lot on her shoulders. Now she can go back out and just doing what she does well - riding winners.”
